Dear York Community

May is Mental Health Awareness month. CCA, our Employee Assistant Program, has provided information in support of mental health awareness. There are 2 complimentary webinars for employee to register and attend.

Setting Boundaries

Tuesday, May 14th @ 1:00pm – 2:00pm ET

In today’s “always-on” environment, setting respectful boundaries is crucial to being successful and avoiding becoming overwhelmed. In this session, participants will learn practices for delegating, managing expectations, and staying consistent to achieve the personal and professional balance they desire.

Practicing Self-Compassion

Tuesday, May 22nd @ 12:00pm – 1:00pm ET

It isn’t always easy to show ourselves the same compassion we show others, but research has found that self-compassion helps us be less self-critical, which in turn decreases stress, increases resiliency, and improves life satisfaction. In this session, participants will learn the components of self-compassion and gain tools for turning their inner critic into an inner friend.

Here are 5 things you can do for your #mentalhealth right now:

  1. Get screened at mhascreening.org – one of the quickest and easiest ways to start working on your mental health.
  2. Start a conversation about mental health – it doesn’t have to be uncomfortable, and it can make all the difference.
  3. Practice an attitude of gratitude – a bona fide way to stop the cycle of negative thoughts and focus on what you already have.
  4. Set limits on your news and social media time – checking a few hours a week is a great way to stay informed; checking nonstop can cause feelings of depression and anxiety.
  5. Leverage the Employee Assistance Program – CCA@YourService offers you and your family free, confidential support and resources to enhance emotional wellbeing and work-life balance.

It’s important to remember that working on your mental health and finding tools that help you thrive takes time. Change won’t happen overnight. Instead, by focusing on small changes, you can move through the challenges you face and develop long-term strategies to support yourself on an ongoing basis.
