Faculty,

Teaching Observation: it’s that time in the semester.  Do you have to be observed?  If you don’t have to be observed, can you request to be observed?  If your teaching is partially online and asynchronous: can you choose in what sub-modality to be observed?  What is the observation process about?  What exactly is the observer going to look at during the observation?... Visit the linked Teaching Observation - CTLET - York College (cuny.edu) to

  • find answers to your questions about mandates and guidelines about Teaching Observation in the PSC-CUNY contract
  • learn about the York College Teaching Observation Form including the vision behind it, its goals, faculty's input, and concerns addressed...
  • (observers) download or (to-be-observed) take a peek at the forms for
    • the (optional) Pre-Observation form
    • the Teaching Observation form that comes in two formats:
      • the integrated format
        integrates
for each of the 10 observation categories a rationale, a list of examples of effective teaching practices, where to look for practices in online courses and resources for professional development
      • the non-integrated format
includes as an appendix for each of the 10 observation categories a rationale, a list of examples of effective teaching practices, where to look for practices in online courses and resources for professional development
    • the Post Observation Memorandum to be filed
  • find workflows for observers and to-be-observed in Asynchronous, Hybrid and Online Synchronous courses

To a successful observation!
