Your efforts last year demonstrate the commitment of the York College community to ensuring that this college is a safe and welcoming environment for all.
All employees of York College are required to complete several training modules annually.  The following is an overview of the trainings required by you as an employee of York College and the State of New York.
  • EMPLOYEE SEXUAL MISCONDUCT PREVENTION AND RESPONSE COURSE (ESPARC).  ESPARC is required of all employees once each academic year.  The training module is available on-demand on Brightspace.
  • WORKPLACE VIOLENCE PREVENTION TRAINING (WPV).  WPV is required of all employees once each academic year.  The training module is available on-demand on Brightspace.
  • TITLE VI TRAINING.  Title VI training is required of all employees once each academic year.  The training module will be available later this year on-demand on Brightspace.
  • GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE TRAINING (GBVT).  GBVT is required of employees who either work in Human Resources, or who have at least one direct report.  The training module is available on-demand on Brightspace.
  • ETHICS.  The State of New York, through the Commission on Ethics and Lobbying in Government, requires all New York State employees, including all employees of York College, to complete ethics training once each calendar year.  State Ethics laws require that employees first complete a “live” training (the Comprehensive Ethics Training Course, or CETC), and going forward have the option of completing training through an on-demand training module every other year (with the CETC being completed in the intervening years.)  The York College Office of Legal Affairs and Labor Relations provides CETC sessions several times a month, and employees can also register to complete the CETC from COELIG, by registering for a session at https://ethics.ny.gov/comprehensive-ethics-training-course-cetc-openings .
Full-time employees must complete ESPARC, WPV, Title VI and GBVT (if applicable) by May 28, 2027; part-time employees should complete their training in the current semester.  New employees should plan to complete all required training within the first two weeks of employment (or, within two weeks of the training module becoming available on Brightspace).  Please consult with your supervisor to schedule a time when the training will be conducted.
The Employee Sexual Misconduct Prevention and Response Course (ESPARC), the Workplace Violence Prevention (WVP) course, and the Gender-Based Violence Training (GBVT) course are now available for the 2026-2027 academic year.  The Title VI training module will be launched later this semester.
Please remember to click "Continue" on every page of the training to ensure your certificate generates following completion of the training.  If you have completed the training through your employment at another CUNY school, please forward us your certificate of compliance so we may give you credit for your completion manually.
