Dear Colleagues,

I'd like to introduce myself as the Faculty Caucus leader for the 2026-27 academic year.  We've hit the ground running, and one of the first items is filling faculty spots on the Senate standing committees so the business of the college can run effectively.   There are eight standing committees; of these, the College Curriculum Committee's faculty members are elected by department, and the other seven are elected by the Faculty Caucus.  I am gathering information on the vacancies on the committees in collaboration with last year's committee chairs and the President's office and will be sending a general call out for nominations when that is compiled. 

However, one faculty seat, on the Committee on Resources must be filled immediately as its business has already begun. I would like to take nominations for this seat until tomorrow (Friday 9/25) noon. The committee is currently reviewing overdue Strategic Initiatives funding proposals and would need to complete review by next week.  It is important that we have a strong faculty voice on this committee.  You may self-nominate or be nominated via a department senator or your chair.  Simply nominate by replying to me directly (not to all). My personal advice is that faculty consult with your department chair about all committee assignments before volunteering or accepting a role.

The functions of the Committee on Resources as listed in the charter are that it: 1. Shall review all the areas of the College related to funding and institutional resources 2. Shall participate in the creation of the tentative budget by the President for the Chancellor 3. Shall participate in planning for the allocation of the actual budget when it is received 4. Shall participate in the formulation of the long-range economic plans of the College.
