York College Information Technology - Cyber Awareness Month

October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month, an international initiative that helps everyone take simple steps to stay safe online. This year's theme is “Don't Make It Easy for Them” — a reminder that building good cybersecurity habits and practicing them consistently can make life more difficult for cybercriminals.

York College and all CUNY schools are proud to support this effort in partnership with our Central Office, the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and the National Cybersecurity Alliance (NCA).

Throughout October, we will highlight five simple defensive behaviors across four weekly topics to help you stay safer online — no expertise required.

Cyber Awareness Month: Weekly Focus

Week 1 – Oct. 5: Use Strong, Unique Passwords and a Password Manager

Week 2 – Oct. 13: Enable MFA Everywhere

Week 3 – Oct. 19: Keep Software Updated

Week 4 – Oct. 26: Scrutinize Every Message
