It is with pleasure that we announce Kim Melendez, Director of the Student Counseling Center as York College’s very 1st Employee of the Month! The nomination for Kim illustrated examples of excellence including:
- Kim’s compassionate and empathetic approach to students, ensuring that each individual feels heard and supported.
- Kim’s leadership role in the development of new initiatives, such as the "Group Chat" Peer Support Program, her collaboration with colleagues to develop and implement programming like ‘Wellness Wednesdays’.
- Kim’s innovative approach in introducing a virtual counseling platform, Uwill, enabling the Counseling Center to extend its reach to students who might not otherwise seek help. This new approach has made mental health service more accessible, furthering the College’s objective of student well-being.
- Kim’s ability to work cohesively with her team has enhanced the Center’s ability to provide comprehensive support services to our Cardinal students.
- Kim’s work supports the Counseling Center’s goal of promoting emotional well-being and academic success which is in line with the mission of York College.
