This Week 4 the focus is on updating your software and Cyber Security Training.
Helpful Cybersecurity Tips:
Stay vigilant while working on or off campus! Scammers are active, exploiting current events to trick you into clicking on harmful links. Be alert to:
1. Fake voting scams providing fake information on voting locations.
2. Fake websites mimicking legitimate ones to steal data.
3. Suspicious e-cards, gifts, job offers, and donations often containing malware.
4. Bogus ads, coupons, or shipping notices with infected attachments.
5. Phishing emails and fraudulent social media posts.
6. Unexpected pop-up ads for security software.
7. Secret Shopper scams using compromised emails.
8. Tech support calls claiming to be York IT.
Take Action:
1. Be skeptical of unsolicited offers and communications.
2. Avoid unknown links and attachments.
3. Verify email links before clicking or phone numbers before you pick up.
4. Enable enhanced account authentication (MFA).
5. Refer to online safety tips from trusted authorities.
6. Check security advisories at security.cuny.edu.
7. Verify tech support calls with an incident number and or verify source phone number.
8. Report scams to campus IT Help Desk or to the email address found on the yellow banner of all emails that come from outside of CUNY.
If scammed:
1. Notify your financial institution.
2. Change compromised passwords.
3. Explore
