Dear Colleagues:
Recruitment season is in full swing, and the team is excited about the students we are meeting on the road.
We will share upcoming dates for additional campus and virtual activities, including information sessions and Express Enrollment Days.
Registration for the Winter and Spring is occurring right now! As you interact with students, please send as many students as possible to visit their academic advisors and register before classes end on December 14th. If they have courses in their shopping carts, remind them to complete the registration process and check on their financial aid for next semester. We are excited to have our new students become continuing students. Thank you for encouraging them to remain focused and seek help when experiencing academic or personal challenges. Our priorities this Spring are to increase the number of students transferring from community colleges and to enroll previously admitted students who did not enroll last Fall.
The Office of Institutional Effectiveness has resumed sending weekly registration reports every Friday. Thank you to Dr. Hoeffer and her team. Please note that the data will be three weeks behind, compared to last year, because the Spring 2024 application opened three weeks earlier last year.
Lastly, on the Enrollment Management front, I am pleased to share the work we are doing regarding the Center for Academic Advisement. The Presidential Advisement Council will be convened and co-led by Donna Chirico and Karen Williams to review recommendations made by the Advisement Council in 2019. The work of this committee will be strategic and assessment-driven. The outcome of this process will be to develop recommendations to President Schrader about the next steps to strengthen advisement. To address day-to-day operational goals for college-wide advising, a second group called Advisement Alignment Committee will be convened and co-led by Kennybel Peña and Leslie Keiler. The work of this committee will be informed by recommendations from the Presidential Advisement Council. This committee will track student trends and engage in assessment to ensure that student and advisement deficits are addressed. Thank you to our colleagues serving on these committees. This work is at the heart of strengthening our retention.
Please enjoy the rest of the semester and look out for regular updates regarding the Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management.
Sincerely,
Karen A. Williams
VP, Student Affairs and Enrollment Management
