Dear York College Community,
York College is preparing to embark upon the multi-year period of self-assessment and evaluation essential to our continued accreditation by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. We are e-mailing now to invite members of the York College community to volunteer for one of the Working Groups that will carry out much of the important work involved in the Self-Study process.
The College will kick-off the Self-Study process in Spring 2025, which will continue through the MSCHE Site Visit in Spring 2027. There will be seven different Working Groups charged with gathering information (i.e., evidence), evaluating the evidence, and using the MSCHE Standards for Accreditation and Requirements of Affiliation (Fourteenth Edition) and Evidence Expectations by Standard to evaluate the extent to which York is meeting each Standard. Each Working group will be led be two members of the Steering Committee (a faculty member and an administrator), and will include eight to ten people, a mix of faculty, staff, and students.
Anyone wishing to volunteer for a Working Group should e-mail Lori Hoeffner by December 11, 2024. Of course, those with questions or thoughts about the Self-Study process--or anything related to the process more broadly--are welcome to get in touch with any member of the Self-Study Leadership Group:

Lidia Gonzalez lgonzalez@PROTECTED
Heather Robinson hrobinson@PROTECTED
James Salnave jsalnave@PROTECTED
Please note that we need roughly 100 individuals to participate in this process. While we hope to honor your request to work on a particular Standard (listed below), we need to ensure that all working groups have cross-campus representation, with an appropriate mix of faculty and staff. In addition, there are some individuals, by virtue of their role at the College, will be invited to participate, even if they do not volunteer.
Standards:
I. Mission and Goals
II. Ethics and Integrity
III. Design and Delivery of the Student Learning Experience
IV. Support of the Student Experience
V. Educational Effectiveness Assessment
VI. Planning, Resources, and Institutional Improvement
VII. Governance, Leadership, and Administration
Please be sure to check-out the new webpage dedicated to the Self-Study process.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about this important undertaking. We look forward to hearing from you.
