York College is pleased to welcome the following new employees!
Dr. Praise Tangbe has extensive experience in health, movement sciences serving in various roles such as Assistant Professor, Program Manager and Education Specialist. She has served at Ohio University, Jackson State University, Mississippi State Department of Health and most recently at Southern Connecticut State University. Dr. Tangbe will use her various experiences in support of the academic goals of the Health and Human Performance department.
Kamla Bhagwandas has years of CUNY experience having previous roles at the Graduate School and Queensborough College. The Math and Computer Science department is excited about her previous roles in student facing offices as this will support their student population.
Dr. Danielle Holmes has had previous roles overseeing DEI, student residential life and lecturer roles at Montclair University, McDaniel College, Stevens Institute of Technology and Academy of Holy Angels. She will oversee all Diversity initiatives as well as Affirmative Action, Recruitment and IX Compliance.

Alex embodies the department's goals of fostering a supportive, efficient, and positive campus environment. His commitment to excellence and his ability to connect with colleagues and students alike make him an exemplary candidate for Employee of the Month.
- Alex exemplifies outstanding customer service through his unwavering commitment to meeting the needs of the York community. He never says "no" when it comes to addressing campus needs, consistently stepping up to ensure events and operations run smoothly. The nominator personally witnessed Alex take control of situations where critical items, such as tables or electric cords, were missing. With remarkable resourcefulness and without hesitation or complaint, he ensures that whatever is needed is promptly provided.
Beyond his dedication to logistics, Alex's personable approach truly sets him apart. His humor and lightheartedness create an inviting atmosphere, and his willingness to go above and beyond, such as donning gloves to help serve food at events, demonstrates his genuine care for the community. Alex's positive attitude and proactive mindset make him a cornerstone of support for the York community, embodying exceptional customer service. - Alex is the embodiment of the phrase "where there is a will, there is a way." His ability to think creatively and resourcefully allows him to overcome challenges and ensure that tasks are accomplished, no matter the circumstances. Alex consistently finds innovative solutions to address campus needs, whether it’s locating missing items for events, repurposing resources to meet unexpected demands, or stepping into roles outside his usual responsibilities to ensure everything runs smoothly. His knack for thinking outside the box and his determination to "make it happen" have had a significant impact on the success of numerous campus events. Alex’s creativity and problem-solving skills not only enhance the efficiency of operations but also inspire those around him to approach challenges with a positive and innovative mindset.
