Dear Faculty,
I hope this message finds you well. I am excited to share important information about our new Academic Master Plan, a strategic initiative designed to guide our institution's academic growth and development over the next several years.
What It Is: The Academic Master Plan is a comprehensive roadmap that outlines our goals, priorities, and strategies for enhancing academic excellence, fostering innovation, and supporting student success. This plan will serve as a blueprint for our academic programs, research initiatives, and community engagement efforts.
Why It's Happening: The College’s Strategic Plan, One York, is reaching the end of its timeline. Before we begin the next Strategic Planning process, we need to articulate the Academic Master Plan, which will contribute to the development of the Strategic Plan. By proactively planning for the future, we can better align our resources, respond to emerging trends, and meet the evolving needs of our students and faculty. This plan will help us build on our strengths, address challenges, and seize new opportunities.
What the Steps Are:
1. Assessment and Analysis: We will begin by conducting a thorough assessment of our current academic programs, resources, and infrastructure. We hope to engage in an Environmental Scanning process as well.
2. Stakeholder Engagement: We will engage with faculty, students, staff, and external partners to gather input and insights.
3. Goal Setting: Based on our assessment and stakeholder feedback, we will establish clear, measurable goals.
4. Strategy Development: We will develop strategies and action plans to achieve our goals.
5. Implementation: We will implement the strategies and monitor progress, making adjustments as needed.
What the Timeline Is (estimated):
Phase 1: Assessment and Analysis (September - December 2025)
Phase 2: Stakeholder Engagement (January - March 2026)
Phase 3: Goal Setting (April - June 2026)
Phase 4: Strategy Development (July - September 2026)
Phase 5: Implementation (October 2026 onwards)
Who Is Participating and How:
· Faculty: Your expertise and insights are crucial. We will be forming working groups and committees to involve faculty in every phase of the plan.
· Students: We will seek student input through surveys, focus groups, and town hall meetings.
· Staff: Staff members will be engaged through departmental meetings and collaborative sessions.
· External Partners: We will collaborate with industry partners, alumni, and community organizations to ensure our plan is comprehensive and forward-thinking.
We are committed to a transparent and inclusive process, and we value your participation and feedback. Together, we can create a vibrant and dynamic academic environment that supports our mission and vision.
Thank you for your dedication and support.
