Dear York College Community,
As you may know, Governor Hochul's Executive Order 47 has activated the National Guard and this order directly impacts members of York College. We recognize that this, and other activations ordered by the Federal Government, will call students away from their studies. We appreciate all you will do to ensure that their dedication to both their education and service are honored and supported. To our student- service members: The York College community is thinking of you. We are committed to minimizing disruptions to your academic progress and working to ensure that, upon your return, you can seamlessly reintegrate into your studies.
We are prepared to provide:
Clear Guidance: In accordance with
CUNY Policy on Active Duty, we will work closely with you and your professors to accommodate your needs, including arranging for missed assignments and exams, facilitating remote coursework, and providing extensions when necessary.
Personalized Support: Please reach out to your faculty immediately if you are activated, copying Verterans Affairs Manager, Larry Eaton (
leaton@PROTECTED) and Provost Derrick Brazill (
dbrazill@PROTECTED) for assistance.
Counseling Services: We recognize that deployment can be a stressful experience. Our Counseling Department is ready to provide confidential and compassionate support upon your return.
Thank you for your service. We are proud of your dedication and commitment.
Sincerely,
VP Williams
