Dear York College Community, It is with a heavy heart that I share the passing of Shelly Ann Shenelle Lawrence, a beloved member of our York College family. Shelly was a dedicated scholar and a Psychology major, receiving support from both SEEK and the Center for Students with Disabilities as she worked toward her degree. She was set to graduate in Spring 2025, a milestone that reflected her unwavering commitment to her education. Despite facing significant health challenges, Shelly never gave up. She embodied resilience, determination, and grace, always striving toward her goals while uplifting those around her. Her warmth and kindness left a lasting impact on our community, and we looked forward to seeing her cross the stage at Commencement. She will be deeply missed. Her mother visited Lisa Maycock in the Center for Students with Disabilities and Alejandro Lopez in the Office of Student Affairs today to share this heartbreaking news. As we mourn this profound loss, we also honor the legacy of strength and inspiration Shelly leaves behind for her fellow Cardinals.
