Student Affairs and Enrollment Management May Report May 15, 2025 Congratulations on completing the Spring semester! This has been a busy few months and I hope we've all been able to check off most of the items on our (very long) to-do lists. We are grateful for President Schrader's support and encouragement of the Division’s enrollment efforts for the upcoming Summer and Fall semesters. Our progress reflects the hard work of York's staff and faculty, who meet weekly to ensure that we are doing everything in our power to recruit and yield a strong, enthusiastic, and academically capable class. However, we are clear: sustaining and strengthening our enrollment, particularly student retention, demands an unwavering commitment of every single member of the College. Our retention success is directly tied to students, faculty, and staff feeling deeply valued and having support services that are solution-oriented and laser-focused on student needs. When this occurs, students will thrive and, choose to remain at York College. As a community that values all of its members, let us commit to collective engagement that is relationship-driven, empathetic, and collegial. The work of the Division is deeply focused on student belonging, well-being, and student success. These tenets will also serve as core values in our critical searches to identify an Interim Director of Financial Aid, a Nurse, and an Athletic Trainer. Retention at the College has been directly tied to our capacity to serve students effectively, even during moments of difficulty. You have our Division’s commitment to educate and elevate the student experience at York and, across campus, we look forward to that same commitment. As we move forward, we must be resolute in building a dynamic and exceptionally supportive environment that not only attracts new students but intentionally retains our current ones. I look forward to working alongside you this Fall to fulfill this charge. Students, as you approach the end of the semester and final exams, we extend our sincere wishes for your success. However, we also issue a direct call to action regarding your crucial role in the College's enrollment. You must ensure your registration for Fall courses before the end of finals. This is not a suggestion; it is an essential step that allows the College to plan effectively and secure your academic future here. Furthermore, it is critical that you connect with your faculty advisors before their summer departure to finalize your Fall registration. Also, do not delay seeking assistance with financial aid or payment plans. Addressing these issues now, rather than days before the semester starts, is in your best interest and allows us to serve you effectively. It also reduces the likelihood of the course you need being cancelled. To our graduating class, we eagerly anticipate celebrating your achievements at Commencement. Your success underscores your potential and hard work during your enrollment at the College. Please be reminded that you are a student until your degree is conferred. Should you require support and assistance from the Office of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, please do not hesitate to contact us at 718-262-2331 or saem@PROTECTED. |
