Health Careers Credentials (HC2) Initiative
Awarded York College $24,902
Dear York College Community,
In 2023, York College was awarded a significant grant through the Health Careers Credentials (HC2) initiative. This generous funding made available through the Mayor's Office, and the CUNY-wide Project was run through the Office of the Dean of Health and Human Services, Dean Patricia Simino-Boyce, has enabled us to introduce the Certificate of Gerontology program. The maximum award was $25,000, and we are proud to have received $24,902.
We are excited to offer this program to the entire York College community. It is FREE and designed for juniors and seniors of ALL Majors, as well as open to faculty. More than 1000 individuals have already received this Certificate, and we look forward to welcoming many more.
The Certificate of Gerontology Initiative consists of (6) modules that will be loaded onto Brightspace once you are registered. It is delivered asynchronously. To complete, it should take an average of (6) weeks or sooner, depending upon how someone paces themselves. We did give a window of (8) weeks from start to finish to accommodate all learners.
The (6) Modules were created by (3) of our faculty, each responsible for (2) Modules. I applaud the work they did and would like to recognize them. They are:
• Nadine Donohue (Nursing Department)
• Deborah Majerovitz (Department of Behavioral Sciences)
• Eva Rodriguez (Occupational Therapy Department)
