Dear York College Community,
York College is preparing to embark upon the Strategic Planning process in 2025-2026. We are e-mailing now to invite members of the York College community to volunteer to serve on the Strategic Planning Committee.
The Strategic Planning Committee will guide the development of York College’s 2026–2031 Strategic Plan, ensuring alignment with the College’s mission and CUNY priorities while fostering student success, academic excellence, and community engagement. We want to ensure the Strategic Planning Committee reflects the York College community. The Committee will include approximately 15 members.
The Strategic Planning Committee will be led by President Claudia Schrader, Interim Associate Provost Tim Paglione, and the Middle States Self-Study Leadership Group (VP Lori Hoeffner, Professor Lidia Gonzalez, Professor Heather Robinson, and AVP/Dean of Students James Salnave). As roughly 100 faculty and staff are currently engaged in the Self-Study process, we have chosen to use the existing Leadership Group, which also led last spring’s Mission, Vision, and Values (MVV) Reflection process, for consistency, continuity, and efficiency.
To ensure a collegial, collaborative, transparent, and data-driven process, there will be multiple opportunities for campus-wide participation including a survey that will go out next week, multiple community forums, and posting a draft to the intranet for anonymous feedback. As the President described in her monthly email, there are big, medium, and small opportunities for your engagement.
The Strategic Planning Committee will be meeting at least once a month, perhaps twice if needed, for no more than two hours at a time to review data, provide input, and contribute to the overall formation of the plan. The goal is to have a completed Strategic Plan before the end of the Spring 2026 semester.
To volunteer for the Strategic Planning Committee, please e-mail Lori Hoeffner by September 26, 2025.
In addition, some individuals, by virtue of the role at the College, will be invited to participate, even if they do not volunteer.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
