Dear Faculty and Staff of York College,
Under New York State ethics laws, all State employees (including all employees of York College) are required to complete ethics training once every calendar year. Under State law, employees must complete “live” training every other year, and have the option to complete their training in the intervening years through online, on-demand training. We are pleased to share that online, on-demand ethics training is now available to York College employees.
Employees who last completed their training through a “live” session (such as those presented by York’s Office of Legal Affairs and Labor Relations) may complete their next training requirement through the online, on-demand option. The training may be accessed at On-Demand Ethics Training | New York State Commission on Ethics and Lobbying in Government . Upon completing the training module, a certificate of compliance will be issued by COELIG and your completion will be recorded in their records. You may also forward the certificate to ethicscertificates@PROTECTED to ensure that your completion is recorded in College records.
Going forward, employees should plan to complete ethics training once each calendar year, with “live” training being completed at least once every other year. Employees who are currently out of compliance will need to complete sufficient trainings to “catch up” to the current year, to be considered in compliance by COELIG – for example, if an employee last completed training in 2023, then their next training session will be considered to satisfy their 2024 session, and they will still be required to complete another session by December 31, 2025, to be considered to have satisfied their 2025 training requirement.
If anyone has any questions, please contact the College Ethics Officer, Russell Platzek, at 718-262-2140 or rplatzek@PROTECTED.
