Dear York College Community,
As we gather around tables filled with turkey, stuffing, and maybe that one mysterious dish no one admits to bringing, I want to pause and share my gratitude. This season reminds us that the most important ingredient in any celebration isn’t the stuffing or the macaroni and cheese (although that’s debatable). The most important part of this season is the people. It is you: our students, faculty, staff, Foundation Board, Southeast Queens community, clinical partners and friends, alum, supporters, donors, and larger University community. I am truly thankful to serve for and with you in this incredible work of educating, empowering, and uplifting our students.
This season is also a time for reflection, and when I reflect on York College, I see a community that is resilient and a committed to making a difference. I have never been one for holiday celebrations and Thanksgiving is no exception. I was raised with the belief that every day is a day for giving thanks and has may have already observed, celebration and joy is a way of life for me.
So, as you enjoy your holiday, know that I am grateful for your dedication. Together, we will continue to build something extraordinary—not just for today, but for generations to come.
Wishing you joy, laughter, and all the macaroni and cheese you can eat. Happy Thanksgiving!
With gratitude,
Schrader
