Dear York College Community,
I am pleased to share several important updates from Academic Affairs that reflect our ongoing commitment to excellence in teaching, learning, and student success. New Academic Offerings for Fall 2027 We are excited to share that the New York State Education Department (NYSED) has officially approved three new programs at York College: - Fully Online B.S. in Finance to complement our in-person program
- Fully Online B.S. in Business Administration to complement our in-person program
- Certificate in Applications of Artificial Intelligence
All three programs will launch in Fall 2026, expanding access to high-quality, flexible learning opportunities and preparing students for success in today’s evolving workforce. Welcome to Sherisse Brown This semester, we are delighted to welcome Sherisse Brown to the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Educational Technologies (CTLET) as Manager of Academic Technologies. Sherisse brings a wealth of expertise with master’s degrees in Instructional Technology and Library and Information Science, and professional experience at Weill Cornell Medical College and Marymount Manhattan College. Her leadership will strengthen our efforts to integrate innovative technologies into teaching and learning. School of Business and Information Systems Hosts International Conference In October, the School of Business and Information Systems successfully hosted the International Conference on Business, Management, Economics and Information Systems under the theme: “Moving Towards Sustainable Businesses and Developing More Resilient Economies.” This premier event provided a dynamic platform for researchers, practitioners, educators, and students to present and deliberate on recent findings, emerging trends, and practical solutions in these critical fields. Congratulations to the faculty and organizers for making this conference a resounding success. Career Services Joins Academic Affairs To better integrate career preparedness with academic programming, Career Services has transitioned to Academic Affairs under the leadership of Interim Associate Provost Tim Paglione. This alignment supports CUNY’s Strategic Plan to prepare students for successful careers by creating intentional connections between academic disciplines, workforce skills, and employment outcomes—starting at enrollment and continuing through lifelong learning. Internship Participation Analysis Theresa Williams, Interim Director of Academic Affairs, has completed the first comprehensive analysis of student internship participation. The report highlights strong engagement in experiential learning, with over 100 students from diverse academic disciplines participating in career readiness opportunities. It provides valuable insights into trends in internship types, compensation, credit status, and industry distribution—informing strategies for growth and future planning. Thank you for your continued dedication to advancing York College’s mission. Together, we are building pathways that empower our students to thrive academically and professionally. Derrick Brazill, PhD Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs
