Dear Members of the York College Community, The York College Charter sets forth the rights and responsibilities of the York College Senate, and provides the primary avenue for all current members of the College Community to participate in, and have a voice in the decision-making process for the College. The Charter can impact academics, finance, facilities, shared governance, and many other aspects of the College. The Charter is a living document that should reflect the current state and needs of the College. The Committee on Governance of the York College Senate has been charged to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the York College Charter; specifically, the Committee has been charged to: Assess the Senate Charter’s ability to effectively support and respond to the changing needs of the Senate and its Committees; solicit and review recommendations from all College constituencies; identify recommended amendments and submit recommendations to the Senate for consideration. In order to advance this work, the Committee requests that all current faculty, staff and students submit their comments, observations and recommendations regarding the Charter, how it has served to advance the interests of the community, and how it could be improved to better advance those interests. The current Charter may be reviewed here. Please click here to submit your comments for consideration by the Committee. Comments will be received until January 31, 2026. Thank you for your feedback.
