Dear Colleagues, We would like to let you know that the pilot semester of the York College Global project has ended on a high note - with the college-wide colloquium where the student-participants presented results of their research. A highly motivated team of students and faculty representing such disciplines as nursing, psychology, biology, and social work conducted an in-depth analysis of Haitian and Italian migrations, yielding important insights, discoveries, and epiphanies. This Office of Academic Affairs initiative was a resounding success. The project will carry over to the Spring 2026 semester with the prospect of a study-abroad expedition to Italy in the summer of 2026. Following the model developed during this semester, we would like to assemble a trans-disciplinary faculty team with independent-study students for the Spring 2026 Migration II Seminar. The Seminar, closely affiliated with the Office of Academic Affairs, will offer bi-weekly online seminars with the CUNY-wide grand finale colloquium in May 2026. Please consider becoming a part of this unique academic experience. If you are interested in participating this Spring, please contact Dr. Moldovan by January 19, 2026, with the name(s) and contact information of the student(s) who you will mentor. Best, Derrick Brazill, PhD Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs AC-2H07 York College, CUNY 718-262-5159
