Dear York College Community,
Welcome back to a new Spring semester at York College! I hope you are returning rested, energized, and ready for a season of growth, collaboration, and academic exploration. Each new semester brings with it a renewed sense of possibility, and I am confident that the months ahead will be filled with meaningful accomplishments for our students, faculty, and staff. I am also pleased to share an important leadership update within our academic community. Dr. Stefka Tzanova has been appointed Interim Chief Librarian of York College, effective this semester. Dr. Tzanova brings to the role more than two decades of experience in academic librarianship, instructional support, and scholarship, and she has long been a valued member of our campus. Dr. Tzanova brings extensive experience as Associate Professor, Science Librarian, and Head of Reference Services, along with a strong record of scholarship in AI in academic libraries, open science, and information literacy. She has authored numerous book chapters, award‑winning research, and has provided dedicated service to York and CUNY through leadership roles in OER initiatives, curriculum committees, and LACUNY representation.
Please join me in congratulating Dr. Tzanova on her appointment. I am confident she will continue to strengthen and advance the mission of the York College Library during this period of transition. As we begin this new semester together, I encourage all of us to continue fostering a culture of inquiry, innovation, and support—one that empowers our students and uplifts the entire York community. Wishing you a productive and inspiring Spring semester.
