York College's Communications Technology program will host a special screening of WTO/99, an award-winning documentary garnering significant attention on the international festival circuit this year. Following the screening, there will be a Q&A discussion with producer and editor of the film, Alex Megaro.
Revisiting the 1999 World Trade Organization protests in Seattle through an extraordinary collection of archival footage (over 1,000 hours), the film offers a vivid and timely examination of concerns around globalization and corporate power—issues that continue to shape today’s political and economic landscape. WTO/99 has received critical acclaim from The New York Times and has recently been featured in Newsweek. It was nominated for a Critic’s Choice Award and received the award for Best Editing at the IDA Documentary Awards, among numerous additional recognitions this year.
Please join us for a screening that promises to be both meaningful and engaging—we’d love to see you there!
