Dear Faculty,
Following Spring Break, CUNY will implement a university-wide change to student email accounts. Students will begin receiving communications through a new CUNY email mailbox starting April 13, 2026.
This message is being shared so faculty are aware of the change and prepared for possible student questions during the transition. York College IT, working with the CUNY Central Office, has established support processes to assist students as they begin using their new email accounts.
If students experience any issues, please direct them to York College IT for assistance. The message below is one of a few reminders that has gone out to our students since February.
Additional information coming soon from IT.
Thank you for your awareness and support.

What’s Not Changing
Your current college email will:
• Be copied into your new mailbox (if you used it in the last 9 months)

• Remain active for a period of time
This change will give you:
• One inbox for all CUNY communications
• Full Microsoft 365 access (Outlook, OneDrive, Teams)
• Better security and spam protection
What You Should Do
After April 13, start using your new CUNY email account.
You should also:
• Update your email address on any non-CUNY websites or apps you use
• Continue checking your email for updates about the change
