On behalf of the Employee of the Month Committee, it is my pleasure to announce that Rachel Ng has been selected as the May 2026 Employee of the Month! Rachel has been working at York College for over eleven years. She currently serves as the Institutional Research Director.
Highlights from her nomination from Lori Hoeffner include:
· Rachel leads the small Institutional Research (IR) team at York. As Director of IR, she is responsible for all official reporting. She responds to the needs of the feds, state, CUNY, and all stakeholders on campus. It is a significant undertaking to ensure all stakeholders' needs are met in a timely fashion while multi-tasking the many demands for data. Rachel is a deep thinker, but her greatest strengths are her ability to multi-task at a very high level and her extraordinary attention to detail. On multiple occasions she has found errors in CUNY data sets that she brought to their attention. Rachel understands her role at York College and how her performance is critical to York's success - reporting is accurate, reliable, disseminated cleanly, and timely. Nothing is disseminated without Rachel reviewing it at least twice (including my own work). York is lucky to have such an exceptional and dedicated Director of IR.
- Rachel works very hard to ensure all end-users' needs are met. Whether it's the President, a member of Cabinet, a Dean, a Chair, a faculty member, or a colleague in another department, she goes above and beyond to ensure she responds in a timely manner, seeks clarification, if needed, and provides the requested information in the timeframe agreed upon with the end-user. She is hard-working, dedicated, and extremely personable.
- Rachel is eager to identify new processes and initiatives to improve services and operations. The small number of staff coupled with the significant demands placed upon the office makes it difficult to be creative, but she is always looking for ways to streamline what we do and how we do it. The Factbook is one example of this - Rachel has significantly modified it at least twice in the past 6 years, and she is considering other ways of producing the Factbook that will reduce the burden on our limited staff.
Thank you, Rachel for the excellent service you contribute to York College!
Sincerely,
Employee of the Month Committee
