The Campus Community,
The College is aware of the disruption in service due to the Long Island Railroad Strike, and we continue to monitor the situation closely.
At this time, all College operations, classes, and final examinations will proceed on their normal schedules.
Members of the campus community are encouraged to prepare accordingly and explore alternate commuting options in the event rail service is interrupted.
Student Guidance
We understand that transit disruptions may create commuting challenges for some students. Students who anticipate delays or attendance issues related to transportation should communicate with their instructors as early as possible. Faculty are encouraged to provide reasonable flexibility when warranted by commuting circumstances.
Faculty and Staff Guidance
Potential transit interruptions may also impact employee travel to campus. Supervisors are asked to use reasonable discretion and flexibility, where operationally practical, for employees affected by transportation delays.
Faculty are similarly encouraged to work collaboratively with students experiencing verified commuting difficulties resulting from transit service disruptions.
The College will continue to monitor developments and will share additional updates with the community accordingly.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions.
