Welcome Back to Campus
Dear York College Community,
Welcome to a new academic year at York College. Our campus is once again filled with the energy, aspirations, and potential of our community. Whether you are a student beginning a new semester, a faculty member preparing to inspire and mentor the next generation, or a staff member supporting our mission every day, each of you plays a vital role in making York College a place of opportunity, discovery, and transformation.
We officially launched the academic year with Convocation on Tuesday and were honored to hear an inspiring address from Grace C. Bonilla, Esq., President and CEO of United Way of New York City. Her remarks highlighted the power of education to transform lives, strengthen communities, and create pathways to a brighter future, values that are deeply aligned with York College's mission.
I am also pleased to recognize faculty colleagues who have earned promotion in recognition of their excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service.
Promotion to Associate Professor Dr. Alexander Birk, Biology Dr. Virginia Garcia Marin, Biology Dr. Diana Daus, Occupational Therapy Dr. Effie Korkou, Business and Economics Dr. Jennette Allen-McCombs, Social Work Dr. Magalie Alcindor, Nursing Dr. Stephanie Store, Nursing.
Promotion to Full Professor Dr. Daniele Musumeci, Chemistry Dr. Galila Werber, Health and Human Performance Dr. Melissa Dinsman, English Dr. Thomas Zlabinger, Performing and Fine Arts
Please join me in congratulating these distinguished colleagues on their well-deserved achievements.
As we look ahead, I am excited by the opportunities before us. Together, we will continue to advance academic excellence, support student success, expand research and creative activity, and strengthen our partnerships with the communities we serve. Most importantly, we will continue to empower our students to achieve their educational, professional, and personal aspirations.
Thank you for all that you do to make York College a vibrant and welcoming community. I wish each of you a successful, productive, and rewarding academic year.
